OUR INTERIM SUPPLY MINISTER

Text/HTML

Born in Leicester, England, Wally Mayhew was transferred to Canada in 1973 as the manager of a moving company. Taking an early retirement from that position, Wally worked locally as a real estate agent, until he felt God calling him to ministry.

Already a member of St. Matthew's, Wally had served on many committees, sung in the choir, and been Chair of Council. The serving minister at that time, Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart introduced Wally to the Designated Lay Ministry program and from there Wally took the requisite university courses from Queen's, Western, and U. of Saskatoon, as well as travelling six times to Saskatchewan for DLM preparation training, eventually being granted the title of Recognized Designated Lay Minister. Concurrently Wally served as full-time minister for the two churches in the Marmora Pastoral Charge, until his recent retirement.

Wally is married to Sherry, a church musician and music teacher. They have a blended family of four children, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Wally is excited to be 'back home' and will serve as Interim Minister until St. Matthew's hires their new supply minister.
